Amasya, a city with a long history dating back to the Hittites, has the character of being an important center in almost every period of history. After 1398, the city has been under the control of the Ottoman Empire and as a city where princesses have been trained, it has also served as a strategic center in the east of the country.

Amasya, which is known as the "country of glory" during the Anatolian Seljuk period, is a very important city for the history of the Seljuks and Principalities period, especially during the Ottoman period and before Islam. Amasya has created a culture circle in itself with the feature of being a city where the princesses are raised in the Ottoman period and has centered on the growth of many statesmen, scholars, poets, calligraphers and similar important persons.

One of the works we have planned in accordance with this vision is the "International Amasya Symposium" which will be organized by the Governorship of Amasya and Amasya Municipality between 4-7 October 2017.

The symposium will be accepted as work in the field of history, language, culture, art and literature. Important informations , symposium participation conditions, important dates, committees, summary submissions, paper writing rules etc, can be found in the relevant sections of our page.

We will be pleased to see scientists in Amasya who will share valuable findings and information.
